Someone’s Done Well Out Of This

It’s emerged that Her Majesty The Queen has done quite nicely on the property market, and now her portfolio, so to speak, is bulging.
As we reported some months ago, the Royal Family has been losing money over the last few years and ultimately, like bank bail-outs, the taxpayer has to pick up the tab for it. But, it seems that portfolio diversification is key to how the Royals have managed to profit in these lean times. And profit they have, to the tune of a £500m boost to there holdings.
Apparently, it’s the agricultural land and marine estates that are more valuable than the Queen’s commercial properties – and this is due to renewable energy operators wanting marshland for wind turbines (that’s a nice clue to where investment muscle is headed in the near future).
Somehow I don’t suspect that even if the current crises were to carry on unabated, that Her Majesty would be huddled in a doorway outside a chip shop on Holloway Rd., waiting for that elusive loan to buy a flat like the rest of us mortals. It seems the public will forever serve everyone but itself.
